The module interfaces between a motion controller and a two-phase stepper motor, shaping phase currents so each commanded step is divided into finer microsteps for smoother rotation. This approach reduces low-speed resonance, improves positional resolution, and enables quiet operation in semiconductor handlers, small conveyors, laboratory axes, and other compact positioning systems where frequent starts and stops are common.

The drive accepts analog velocity or torque references ranging from -10 VDC to +10 VDC, enabling closed-loop analog command schemes without digital interpolation overhead. Internally, the power stage is tied to a supply bus that can vary between 24 VDC and 75 VDC, so the same unit can operate from regulated supplies or battery-backed DC sources. Current is switched through an H-bridge at 20 kHz, placing switching noise above the audible range and limiting ripple in the motor windings. This higher subdivision helps reduce the abrupt positional changes associated with full-step operation. The power stage can deliver a peak phase current of 7.1 A during acceleration while sustaining 5 A RMS for continuous motion, allowing high torque at low speeds without an immediate thermal trip. These current capabilities support a torque range suitable for NEMA-23 and smaller NEMA-34 motors used on compact linear stages, rotary indexers, and feed mechanisms.
