Product Description:

The 5630-031 Stepper Motor Drive from Pacific Scientific is designed for precise motion control applications where reliable drive performance is required. The drive uses a two-phase bipolar chopper current-regulated circuit that provides stable operation across a wide range of step modes. It is equipped with dedicated fuses for both the AC input line and the logic supply that enhance system protection in continuous operation.

The 5630-031 Stepper Motor Drive operates from a bus voltage of 160 V DC nominal when supplied with 115 V AC input. The rated current is switch selectable at 8.0 A RMS, 7.5 A RMS, 6.0 A RMS, or 5.0 A RMS that correspond to peak microstepping currents of 11.3 A, 10.6 A, 8.5 A, and 7.1 A. The step size is selectable at full, 1/2, 1/5, 1/25, or 1/125 steps that allow accurate resolution scaling. The drive supports a maximum pulse rate of 40,000 pulses per second in full step and up to 500,000 pulses per second in finer step modes. The chopper frequency is 20 kHz nominal that maintains efficient current regulation. The motor drive incorporates mid-range instability control that ensures step input-output lag remains below 500 microseconds and that allows a minimum ramp time of 50 milliseconds to reach 20,000 full steps per second.

The environmental requirements for the 5630-031 Stepper Motor Drive make sure that it works reliably in a range of circumstances. At maximum current, the motor drive works at 0 to 50°C. At 5.0 or 6.0 A RMS with idle current reduction turned on, it can work at up to 60°C. As long as the humidity level stays between 0 and 95%, the drive will work reliably in controlled settings. The drive can be used at up to 5,000 feet above sea level and can store data between -25°C and 85°C. With controlled acceleration and precise steps, these features make the drive efficient for automation industries.
