Product Description:
The Okuma VACB D8-B is a spindle drive module designed to control spindle motors in CNC machine tools and it features a sturdy metal housing with a top mounted fuse panel and signal connector layout for power and alarm interfacing. It integrates both control and power electronics within a compact form and Okuma supplies this module for use in its CNC machining platforms and for industrial automation applications.
The VACB D8-B Drive offers a power board and a control PCB with analog or optical interface options depending on system configuration and it supports built in resolver or feedback from an encoder. It accepts U, V, W motor supply plus N and P terminals for control and it features protective fuses that are rated at 5 amperes and 32 amperes. This module's front panel provides LED indicators for RUN and multiple alarm states labeled A, B, C, D and its signal LED mapping shows modes 1 through 6 and alarm codes such as OC, UVP and OLP. It can be mounted via rear keyhole slots and includes a cooling fan assembly and transformer coils visible when the cover is removed and its control PCB permits connection to magnetic or optical encoders.
In this VACB D8-B Drive the volume and switch trimmers are accessible for motor tuning and it supports DC bus charge monitoring and EMC filtering. It supports 300 A class power for high‑torque spindle applications and it functions at around 480 V three phase power supply. This module's internal cooling design can accommodate oil cooled or air cooled implementations and its dimensions and mounting hardware comply with Okuma machining center standards.
Frequently Asked Questions about VACB D8-B:
Q: What type of motor feedback is supported by the VACB D8-B and why is it useful?
A: The VACB D8-B supports encoder and resolver feedback that helps ensure precise motor position control. This enhances spindle accuracy and reduces positioning errors in machining tasks.
Q: Why are both 5A and 32A fuses included in the VACB D8-B drive unit?
A: The 5A fuse protects control electronics and the 32A fuse protects the power circuit. This dual protection improves safety and reduces component damage in fault conditions.
Q: What is the function of the LED alarm indicators in the VACB D8-B?
A: The LED alarms show fault conditions like overcurrent and undervoltage that assist in rapid diagnostics. This reduces downtime by helping technicians pinpoint issues quickly.
Q: How does the VACB D8-B’s optical interface option improve signal integrity?
A: Optical interfaces reduce noise interference and ensure reliable signal transmission. This is especially useful in electrically noisy machining environments.
Q: What is the benefit of using U, V, W terminals on the VACB D8-B drive?
A: The U, V, W terminals provide direct 3-phase output to the motor that ensures consistent torque delivery. This supports smooth spindle acceleration and deceleration.
