The VAC5-D6 spindle drive belongs to the VAC Spindle Drives series manufactured by Okuma. As a dedicated inverter module for high-speed machine-tool spindles, the unit regulates three-phase motor torque and speed so that cutting, drilling, or grinding processes stay within commanded limits. It works as the power interface between a CNC controller and the spindle motor, converting line power into a controlled output that supports acceleration, deceleration, and constant surface speed functions required in industrial automation cells. This arrangement lets the spindle respond quickly to commanded speed changes during cutting cycles and controlled stopping.

The drive incorporates two identical protection links: an Fr Fuse Rating of 5.0 A on the rectifier side and an Fs Fuse Rating of 5.0 A on the smoothing circuit. These fuse values protect the power semiconductors during short-circuit or overload events. The control backplane communicates by an optical interface, which helps eliminate ground loops and maintain noise immunity at high switching frequencies. Cabinet layout follows a mounting pitch height of 414 mm and a mounting pitch width of 120 mm, matching the rail spacing and lateral hole centers used to mount the unit on enclosure frames.

Four 4-M6 tapped holes provide the mounting thread, allowing direct attachment to panel studs without additional brackets.
