The unit transforms plant-level AC power into a regulated DC bus and low-voltage control rails that feed axis amplifiers, spindle drives, and peripheral logic. By integrating protection, monitoring, and regeneration hardware in one enclosure, it eliminates separate converters and helps machine tools maintain consistent motion when line conditions fluctuate.

The supply can sustain a continuous apparent load of 60 kW, so multiple high-inertia axes can accelerate simultaneously without undervoltage trips. Its main DC bus is held at 300 VDC, a level accepted by Okuma servo amplifiers for current vector control. A secondary control rail delivers 24 VDC for relays, sensors, and fans, allowing low-power circuits to remain energized during drive shutdowns. Incoming energy is drawn from a three-phase source, which spreads current across three conductors and helps minimize line imbalance and harmonic heating. Overvoltage protection disconnects the converter when the RMS input exceeds 253 Vrms, shielding downstream capacitors and IGBTs. For diagnostics, the front panel exposes a voltage-monitor test point that reads the bus through a 1/151 divider across a -2.5 V to +2.5 V window, allowing safe oscilloscope checks of the bus voltage.

The supply has a maximum output of 80 hp, which suits mid-size lathes and machining centers driven by synchronous or induction spindles. During deceleration, excess kinetic energy is returned to the mains through its power regeneration type topology, eliminating external braking resistors and lowering cabinet temperatures. Thermal stress on the internal heat sink is indicated by alarm code 13, prompting a controlled stop before components exceed their rated limit. At 25 kg, the unit can be mounted on light-duty panels, and its 380 mm height, 300 mm width, and 325 mm depth leave room for side-entry cables and an M4 terminal block that accepts ring lugs without bus-bar adapters.
