The OSP700G is an operator display unit produced by Okuma as part of the OSP CNC Monitors series. Installed in the front panel of lathes and machining centers, the monitor provides the graphical layer that connects the machine’s numerical control core with the shop-floor user. Through this component, program files, tool data, and alarm messages are presented in real time, enabling machine operators to supervise automated cutting operations without relying on a separate computer terminal.
A 9-inch viewing area provides sufficient character density for coordinate data while keeping the enclosure compact. The screen uses a thin-profile LCD, reducing its depth so it fits into shallow electrical cabinets. The display has eight programmable function keys arranged beneath it, allowing the control to assign context-sensitive shortcuts instead of relying solely on on-screen keys. Program imports and backups can be handled with the built-in 3.5-inch floppy drive, allowing legacy media to remain in service. When larger part programs are required, the monitor supports up to seven main CPUs within the OSP architecture, allowing the interface to access extended processing resources without physical modifications. An RS-232C serial port provides direct data exchange with external computers or DNC systems and supports remote diagnostic access.
Integrated flash memory preserves system parameters when machine power is removed, while MS-DOS I/O maintains compatibility with older CAM files. Four independent display panels can be selected with the keys, allowing offsets, diagnostic information, and spindle loads to appear on separate screens without closing the active program. The interface supports three operating modes, typically automatic, manual, and MDI, so users can move between production, setup, and direct command tasks.
