The E9101-106-005 is a thin fiber optic cable manufactured by Okuma for their high-quality product series and machines. As opposed to copper wires, fiber optic cables propagate signals in the form of light. In traditional signal or copper cables, the signal comes in the form of a pulse current, where a high current indicates a high signal and a low or sometimes negative current can indicate a low signal. In fiber optics, light is propagated to indicate a high signal. The absence of light within a sampling period indicates a low signal. A receiver is usually connected at the end of the cable or embedded within the receiving device to decode the series of light pulses.

The E9101-106-005 is part of the Okuma cable series and features a sturdy connection plug on both ends. Like other connection cables made by Okuma, the E9101-106-005 comes with an orange coating or buffer that protects the fiber from damage or moisture. Inside this fiber optic cable, a cladding layer not only acts as a protection layer for the core but also amplifies the light signal by reflecting it back to the glass core. The glass core is the innermost layer of this Okuma cable, which allows the light signal to be transmitted from one end to the other.
