Okuma is a manufacturer of industrial motion control systems and drive control products.

The E4809-045-019-B SDU-600-W is a spindle drive unit that is designed for controlling the speed and position in industrial systems. This model has been designed for the Okuma motion control systems. The spindle drive unit is paired with the OSP 5000 system that is used in the industry for controlling the CNC machining centers and lathe machines. This spindle drive unit was particularly designed for the 5000L CNC control. This model resembles the LDU 600 axis drive in the sense that both these systems use a thyristor for motion control tasks. In both these systems, the firing angle of the thyristors is adjusted to control the rotational speed of the DC motor. A tach generator is also provided with the drive unit for the feedback loop.

The E4809-045-019-B SDU-600-W is also provided with an alarm system for protecting the system and offering diagnostics services. When the control receives the alarm signal, it offers a generic alarm which is then fed to the CRT. This alarm is provided in both the CNC lathes and machining centers and is designated ‘level A’. This spindle drive unit also comes with an optical pulse generator for feedback purposes. The system has the MB velocity command that is used to feed data to the ECP or the SVP. The SVP or the ECP is in turn connected to the pulse generator. The velocity amplifier and the current amplifier are fed by the DA Conv. The output from both the amplifiers is fed to the pulse shaft generator for seamless execution of position and speed control.
