It functions as a discrete output interface inside a CNC rack, converting logic-level commands from the controller into power-rated signals that actuate external devices. By switching 24 VDC loads, the board links CNC sequences with field hardware that operates tooling, clamping, and status indication in automated machining lines. This arrangement allows the control to command external devices without placing load current directly on low-level control electronics.

Communication with the main controller occurs over the Fieldnet bus, allowing deterministic updates for every output during synchronized motion cycles. The board energizes field devices at a nominal 24 VDC, so plant wiring can share a standard low-voltage supply. Hardware provisioning includes 8 output channels, and each channel uses exactly 1 byte of register space, which supports clear byte-wide mapping in the PLC image.
