The E4809-436-074-A communication board is produced by Okuma for the E4809 CNC Boards series. Installed inside an OSP control, the board manages serial and floppy interfaces so the CNC can exchange programs, parameters, and diagnostics with external computers, tape readers, and service tools. By adding these ports, the board supports data backup, part-program download, and printer logging tasks that are routine in industrial automation. It acts as the physical layer between the control CPU and peripheral devices, translating logic levels and maintaining signal timing that conforms to standard serial protocols used on the shop floor.
Two independent serial paths are available. Each path supports baud selections from 110 to 19200 bps, allowing the control to match legacy tape equipment as well as faster PCs. Character framing is configurable for 8 data bits, odd, even, or no parity, and either 1 or 2 stop bits; these options let the port match diverse devices without additional hardware.
