Product Description:
The E4809-045-194-A is a memory board manufactured by Okuma for machines that use the E4809 CNC Boards series. Installed in the backplane of an OSP controller, it provides retained storage so milling or turning centers can restart with the same parameters, offsets, and part programs that were active before shutdown. Within an automation cell, the board preserves system software and machining data, allowing the CPU and axis drives to resume coordinated motion without reloading information from external media.
A sealed battery cassette maintains the static RAM array when mains power is removed, preventing accidental loss of volatile data. Okuma designates the module as a ROM memory board, and it pairs that battery-backed memory with several solid-state storage technologies. The FEPROM section supplies 2.0 MByte of erasable, field-programmable storage for ladder updates, while high-density flash provides a separate 6.0 MByte block for system software. Temporary variables and modal states reside in the S-RAM bank, which offers 0.5 MByte of high-speed storage so the control can access active data during real-time interpolation without waiting for slower devices.
The board also carries its boot image on a removable Flash-ROM card, and a dedicated slot holds a one-time ROM device that secures factory calibration data. For extended part-program libraries, the OPT-ROM area contributes 2 MByte of read-only capacity, complementing a primary ROM region rated at 6 MByte. By combining S-RAM, FEPROM, and ROM in a single module, the assembly supports different data-retention requirements without external expansion hardware. Each storage technology is accessed through the controller’s backplane bus, so installation requires seating the board correctly and adding the available memory to the system parameters.
