The DCPS-2 is a switch-mode power module manufactured by Okuma and belongs to the DC Power Supplies series. It converts incoming three-phase mains to a regulated DC link that feeds the axis and spindle amplifiers installed in an Okuma machining center. The unit mounts beside the drives, provides visual status through front-panel LEDs, and serves as the common energy source that lets multiple motion axes operate concurrently in automated production lines. Because it supplies a shared DC source, the module supports coordinated acceleration and deceleration across the machine's drive system.

This supply can energize up to 3 axes, which limits the number of position-controlled motors sharing its bus. The internal converter establishes a nominal bus potential of 300 VDC, giving the connected amplifiers a steady energy reservoir for rapid current swings. Rapid energy dumping is managed with a discharge circuit activated by a front-panel push switch, allowing residual voltage to be reduced before service. On the load side, the frame supports a maximum of 6 amplifiers; above this count, a second supply must be installed to preserve bus stability. A protection circuit trips when the link climbs to 430 VDC, disconnecting the mains to safeguard drive components from regenerative overvoltage.

Undervoltage protection opens the circuit when the bus drops to 220 VDC, preventing control errors that can result from insufficient drive torque. During normal service, the converter can deliver up to DC 60 A of continuous current while accepting a rated three-phase AC input at 220 VAC. Seven diagnostic LEDs labeled PS, MCON, Dis, LV, HV, PH, and Over Dis mirror internal states, and the front panel includes a total of 7 LED indicators. Five check terminals are available for meter probes so bus voltage, phase presence, and ground can be checked directly without removing the module.
