Product Description:

As an upgrade to the BL-D series of servo drive units, the BL3-D is a maintenance-type unit that incorporates multiple variants of the BL-D units. This category of servo drives offers flexibility and compactness in the applications of various servo motors (with varying output power capacities) in the intended automation. Just like the BL-D servo drives, the BL3-D is also made by the Okuma manufacturing company.

A typical BL3-D servo drive includes all the basic functionalities of the BL-D drives, along with extra jumpers, switches and connectors for adjusting to the needed BL-D type of drive. Hence, the BL3-D can be considered as a housing for multiple BL-D-type servo drives with the option of switching to the required one based on application. As expected, the BL3-D units are designed to offer the same level of protection to the connected motor as a BL-D drive would. This includes damage protection from current and loading connections, LED indicators for displaying error operation status, etc. With these, the performance of the BL3-D is always guaranteed in an error free state. To also avoid a major error in operation due to incorrect jumper-switch configuration i.e. connected servomotor demagnetization, the BL3-D features a label for the jumper and switching mechanisms; the switches are labelled from SW1 through SW6, and the jumpers are indicated by XB-DBR.

The BL3-D is made up of two main components, its logic board (the SVPII) and a power supply unit. The power requirements for this servo drive are also specified as this: a minimum and maximum 3-phase voltages of 170 and 242 volts respectively at 50 or 60 Hz: which is the frequency for most generally distributed utility supplies. While this servo drive is mostly meant as a temporary replacement for the in-use BL-D drive, the high performance and multi-functionality of the BL3-D always ensures a seamless transition and excellent dynamics in the applied servomechanism.
