The BL-MP400J-20S is a rotary servo motor manufactured by Okuma for the BL Servo Motors series. Intended for precision motion control, it works with Okuma drive amplifiers to position slides, spindles, or tool changers under numerical control. By translating command signals into regulated shaft output, the motor enables machine tools to achieve repeatable velocity profiles, accurate contouring, and tight synchronization with other axes in automated cells. Its compact construction fits directly into equipment where high dynamic response and limited maintenance are priorities, while the low-inertia magnetic circuit helps keep acceleration times short.
Energy conversion is handled by a permanent-magnet field that supports a continuous mechanical output of 6.7 kW. The motor uses three-phase power, so the three stator windings share current evenly at the rated line voltage of 143 V. When supplied through a Y connection, the stator operates at a synchronous electrical frequency of 133 Hz while the shaft turns at the rated speed of 2000 rpm. Under these conditions, the drive must deliver 40.8 A of phase current, which is relevant when selecting cables, overload protection, and amplifier outputs. Compliance with IEC 34 supports standardized dimensional and insulation requirements for the motor.
