Product Description:

The BL-MC140MJ-20TB is one of Okuma’s most modern models released under the BL product line. It is characterized by its sturdy chassis, coated by a black finish. Unlike other servomotors in the BL product line, this servomotor features two terminal boxes and a threaded shaft, perfect for maximizing torque transfer. At standstill conditions, this AC machine achieves a rated output torque of 13.7 Nm. Without a shaft key, this motor does not experience derating below the rated speed. Assuming nominal input voltage, this servomotor achieves a rated shaft velocity of 2000 rpm. Similar to other BL servomotors by Okuma Corporation, the BL-MC140MJ-20TB features a permanent magnetic field.

The BL-MC140MJ-20TB is an efficient servomotor, utilizing eight poles spaced forty-five degrees apart. During operation, the windings of this motor must be connected in a wye or star configuration. In typical AC systems, the wye configuration can provide voltage amplification. Although this servomotor is relatively smaller than other BL motors, it can still provide a continuous output power of 2.8 kilowatts. At this rated power, this BL motor can maintain a continuous output current of 13.8 amperes. The BL-MC140MJ-20TB can be used for closed-loop applications when paired with a compatible servo drive and encoder.

Like other large BL servomotors, the BL-MC140MJ-20TB has a high rated frequency of 133 hertz. For the motor to function properly, it must be connected to a servo drive or amplifier that will provide the terminal input voltage at the rated frequency. The BL-MC140MJ-20TB does not employ specialized cooling fans for heat dissipation. Instead, like other Okuma motors, this AC machine relies on natural heat dissipation via air convection and radiation. Wake Industrial provides a one-year warranty upon purchase of this BL servomotor.

Frequently Asked Questions about BL-MC140MJ-20TB:

Q: What is the thermal time constant of the BL-MC140MJ-20TB?

A: For naturally cooled servomotors and AC machines such as the BL-MC140MJ-20TB, the typical thermal time constant is 45 minutes.

Q: How long does it take for the BL-MC140MJ-20TB to fully cool?

A: To fully cool or achieve a safe surface temperature, the motor must be left to rest for at least 5 times the thermal time constant. Assuming a thermal time constant of 45 minutes for the BL-MC140MJ-20TB, a safe surface temperature can be achieved after 3 hours and 45 minutes of rest.

Q: What is the protection category of the BL-MC140MJ-20TB?

A: With its shaft seal, the BL-MC140MJ-20TB has a protection rating of IP 65.

Q: What is the nominal ambient temperature range for the BL-MC140MJ-20TB during operation?

A: During operation, the BL-MC140MJ-20TB can tolerate an ambient temperature range between 0 and 55 degrees Celsius.

Q: What type of mounting is suitable for the BL-MC140MJ-20TB?

A: Like other BL servomotors, flange mounting is the most suitable installation method for the BL-MC140MJ-20TB.
