Product Description:

The BL-MC100J-12SNA is a robust servomotor manufactured and designed by Okuma International, featuring a permanent magnet core. As a three-phase servo motor, the BL-MC100J-12SNA works best when operated in a wye winding connection. For three-phase AC systems, wye configuration leads to higher line voltage during operation. In total, this servomotor boasts eight poles or four pole pairs. In the context of servo motors, the poles in the stator provide the magnetic field that induces the rotor to move. The magnetic field in the stator varies depending on the excitation current. Since the current is usually of an alternating nature for servomotors, the magnetic field in the stator is time variant, which allows the rotor to move over time.

The BL-MC100J-12SNA is a relatively large servomotor, fit for the most demanding applications and systems. Particularly, it can maintain a continuous output current of 3.6 kilowatts during operation. At this output power, the BL-MC100J-12SNA can deliver an RMS current of 16.2 amperes. The motor’s nameplate identifies the terminal voltage to be 141 V during rated conditions. As a tradeoff for its high power and torque capabilities, the BL-MC100J-12SNA has a relatively low rated speed. During nominal conditions, this servomotor can maintain a rated shaft velocity of 1200 rpm. Although in theory, the BL-MC100J-12SNA can operate at faster speeds, the output torque starts to decline for speeds greater than the rated value.

Similar to other three-phase servomotors by Okuma, the BL-MC100J-12SNA comes with a built-in motor encoder. For servo applications, the motor encoder monitors the shaft position or speed during application. Based on the identified position or speed of the motor shaft, the input current to the motor can be varied to achieve a desired operating point.
