Product Description:
The PRD-0051AMPz-Y2 is a servo amplifier manufactured by Kollmorgen as part of the VRDM Servo Amplifiers series. This module supplies closed-loop power to synchronous motors, converting regulated DC-bus power into phase-modulated AC power so that position, velocity, and torque remain tightly controlled. In automated cells, it connects the motion controller to the motor and follows programmed motion profiles. Integrated protective functions help guard the connected load against electrical faults, while the available communication ports simplify cabinet wiring and connections to other control equipment.
A bus input of 350 VDC feeds the internal inverter, and the unit draws 9 A at the input. This input current must be considered when selecting the upstream power supply and protective components. The amplifier produces a phase output of 230 VAC, which is suitable for common industrial motor windings. It can deliver up to 15 A of continuous current to the motor phases, supporting moderate-frame servo motors during sustained motion. The regulated output allows the connected motor to respond to changing speed and torque commands while maintaining closed-loop control. Suitable conductor sizes and circuit protection should be selected according to these electrical ratings and the requirements of the connected motor.
The amplifier accepts step-and-direction or analog command signals through a dedicated control port with a DB25 female connector. High-speed networked motion communication is available through two FireWire ports that use the IEEE 1394 interface. A maintenance console can connect through the RS-232 DB9 male interface for configuration and diagnostic access without interrupting the real-time network connection. Operating status and fault information are displayed by two front-panel LEDs, allowing conditions to be checked directly at the cabinet. The amplifier has a mass of 4 lb, which limits the load placed on the mounting panel. Its enclosure supports vertical DIN-rail or baseplate mounting without additional bracing, provided that the installation maintains the required clearances for cabling and heat dissipation.
