Product Description:
The SV3401-11000 is a flux-vector variable-frequency drive manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied within the SV3000 Flux Vector Drives series. Designed for three-phase induction motors, the unit modulates output frequency and voltage to regulate speed and torque in conveyors, automated machinery, and process equipment. By combining current feedback with encoder signals, the drive maintains accurate vector control and responds precisely under changing load conditions. Closed-loop vector control also helps the motor hold commanded speed more consistently during load changes and low-speed operation. It replaces mechanical speed control with electronic regulation, which improves efficiency and reduces routine wear on the driven system.
The electrical section is built for a 460 VAC three-phase supply and draws 2.6 A at nominal load. Internally, the inverter provides a continuous motor current of 1.8 A RMS and permits frequency adjustment up to 120 Hz for an extended speed range. Short-term overload capability reaches 150% for 60 s, allowing the system to accelerate heavier loads without nuisance trips. The drive has a continuous output of 1 HP and supports dynamic stopping through its braking circuit. This output range suits small pumps, indexing tables, and light material-handling axes that need controlled acceleration and stable running speed.
Installations can be made on factory floors exposed to dust or oil spray because the housing meets NEMA 4/12 and is rated for ambient temperatures up to 40 °C without derating. For rapid torque transients, the inverter can supply a peak output of 2.7 A RMS, which corresponds to an apparent power of 1.4 kVA at full voltage. When used with a dynamic-brake resistor, the drive accepts a braking sequence of 5 s every 2 min. Vector feedback is intended for a 1024 PPR encoder operating at up to 200 kHz, and the encoder supply provides 5 VDC at 200 mA.
