The STF Washdown Motors series from Kollmorgen includes the STF3640-4977-61-56HC, a permanent-magnet DC motor intended for conveyor drives, small agitators, and feed mechanisms used in sanitary production zones. Its totally enclosed non-ventilated housing helps keep cleaning fluids away from internal parts during wash cycles, while compact dimensions allow the motor to mount directly to gearboxes or pumps without extra guarding. By supplying steady torque from a low-voltage source, this motor supports simple speed regulation in automation cells that use DC drive topology. This layout is useful where open-air cooling is undesirable or where rinse-down procedures are part of normal operation.

The motor is rated for 90 VDC and delivers a shaft speed of 1750 RPM under load. At that operating point, it produces 18 lb-in of continuous torque and draws a continuous armature current of 5.1 A. Drive sizing can be estimated through the torque constant of 4.05 lb-in/A; multiplying the constant by commanded current gives a direct estimate of instantaneous torque without adding external feedback devices.
