U12M4LR is a U-Series ServoDisc servo motor from Kollmorgen. ServoDisc motors are ideal for numerous applications, allowing operators to save space and weight for application that need low profile motors, and that require high torsional stiffness for precise speed and acceleration control. The motors have a unique ironless flat disc armature that allows low inertia operation and compact dimensions. With this design, the motors can deliver performance during incremental and continuous motion that exceeds that which is possible with motors that have an ironcore design. The motors are much smaller and lighter than ironcore motors, accelerate up to ten times faster, and operate without any cogging. The motors have an exception torque to inertia ratio for lightning-fast acceleration, leading to short cycle times, fast moves and higher motor throughput.
The iron less design means there is no induction, and therefore no arcing, which is the main cause of brush degradation. ServoDisc motors are available in a range of sizes for every application.
