Product Description:
The N12M4T is a DC servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the ServoDisc Pancake DC Motors series. This frameless, flat-profile unit uses an ironless disk armature to deliver low inertia and fast torque rise, making it suitable for positioning tables, semiconductor tools, and other industrial automation axes. By converting electrical energy into rotary motion with minimal cogging, the motor provides smooth velocity control for closed-loop drive systems.
At its nominal operating point the motor accepts 45.0 V across the terminals and reaches a shaft speed of 3000 RPM while delivering 278 W of mechanical output. The available continuous stall torque is 90 N-cm, permitting the load to be held without overheating whenever motion is stopped. A torque constant of 12.57 N-cm/A links commanded armature current to developed torque, so drive electronics can predict output torque precisely from current feedback. During rated operation the armature draws 8.10 A, and a back-EMF constant of 13.10 V/KRPM defines the voltage generated whenever the shaft is driven externally. The tachogenerator winding produces 5.90 V/KRPM for speed feedback, and rated torque is specified at 89 N-cm at 25 °C and 79 N-cm at 40 °C.
For transient demands the motor can supply 979 N-cm of torque, supported by a momentary armature current of 83 A before thermal limits intervene. Electrical losses are constrained by a winding resistance of 0.750 Ohm, while the flat disk rotor exhibits a moment of inertia of 1.84 kg-cm², allowing rapid acceleration to the maximum recommended 6000 RPM. System designers can size power supplies using the continuous terminal resistance and the peak current together with the 1.84 kg-cm² inertia value. The assembly weighs 2.4 kg, so mounting structures experience modest static loading even when the motor is oriented vertically.
