Product Description:
The S70101-NA is a Kollmorgen drive from the S700 Servo Drives series that regulates torque, speed, and position for synchronous or induction servomotors used in automated machinery. It converts three-phase line power into controlled pulse-width-modulated output for the motor. This lets the drive close the loop between a motion controller and the mechanical axis, allowing precise trajectory execution in packaging, semiconductor, and material-handling stations. It is intended for servo applications that require repeatable motion and stable regulation during changing load conditions.
The drive accepts an input voltage of 208–480 V and delivers a continuous output current of 1.5 Arms, drawing up to 1.1 kVA under rated conditions. Its internal braking network contains a 33 Ω resistor that can absorb 50 W of regenerated energy, protecting the DC bus when a motor decelerates. A carrier frequency of 8 kHz shapes the output waveform, and at this switching rate the residual voltage drop across the power stage is 4 V. In systems wired for 3×208 V, the converter limits dv/dt to 3.0 kV/µs and requires a minimum motor inductance of 7.7 mH to keep current ripple within target limits. An F02 trip halts operation if the DC link exceeds 900 V, preventing semiconductor overstress. Continuous motion at rated load generates 40 W of heat, while idle dissipation falls to 20 W, which helps size cabinet ventilation.
The enclosure weighs 4.4 kg and measures 70 mm across the front panel, which supports high-density rack layouts. The narrow front width leaves more room for adjacent components in compact cabinets. Acoustic output is limited to 43 dB(A), helping reduce noise in the surrounding work area. Safety is provided through a Single channel STO input that removes energization to the motor windings without cycling mains power. EtherCAT and CANopen interfaces are built in on the standard PCB option, so no expansion card is required.
