The SERVOSTAR-620 is a digital servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen within the S600 Servo Drives series. Designed for closed-loop motion systems, the drive regulates torque, velocity, and position for synchronous or asynchronous motors in industrial automation cells, conveyors, and handling equipment. It integrates power electronics, signal processing, and safety circuitry so that machine builders can combine it with feedback devices and PLCs for precise axis control.

Under continuous operating conditions, the drive supplies a rated output current of 20 Arms, while transient accelerations can draw up to 40 Arms. The power section is dimensioned for a rated installed load of 14 kVA, aligning with common medium-power servo axes. When fully loaded the electronics dissipate 200 W of heat, and the housing carries an IP20 protection rating suitable for cabinet mounting. A current form factor of 1.01 keeps harmonic distortion low so that motor heating remains predictable. The chassis measures 275 mm in height and 265 mm in depth, permitting stacked installation behind standard 300 mm deep panels without blocking service access.

During idle sequences, consumption falls to a standby dissipation of 15 W, allowing energy-aware machines to minimize cabinet heating. The internal brake resistor is rated for 200 W so that regenerated energy can be absorbed without an external module. For vertical axes, the integrated brake control delivers a nominal 24 V and can supply 2 A to hold the motor’s mechanical brake.
