Product Description:
The PSR3-230/75-21-202 power module is produced by Kollmorgen for the PSR Servo Power Supplies series. Within an automation cabinet, it acts as the shared direct-current energy source for multiple servo axes, stabilizing the bus voltage so amplifiers can regulate motor torque and velocity accurately. The unit stores and distributes electrical energy rather than performing drive control, making it a dedicated supply stage for motion platforms that require consistent voltage during rapid load changes. Its design also separates the conversion hardware from the axis electronics, reducing heat concentration at individual inverters and allowing the connected amplifiers to focus on motor control.
Its electrical profile centers on a nominal bus voltage of 325 VDC, which balances transistor switching losses with motor insulation stress. Protective circuitry prevents the link from exceeding a ceiling of 385 VDC. When the rail returns to a recovery point of 365 VDC, the supply allows the connected drives to resume energy transfer. During high acceleration, each phase can draw up to 75 A per phase, providing current capacity for medium-inertia servo groups operating through demanding motion cycles. A storage network with a total capacitance of 0.0066 F smooths pulsating load currents by absorbing short spikes and releasing stored energy when demand changes.
The module has no integral chopper, so excess regenerative energy must be handled by an external resistor circuit. The recommended dump path has a resistance of 4.5 ohms, converting surplus bus energy into heat while keeping the voltage below the shutdown ceiling. This external arrangement allows braking energy from decelerating motors to leave the shared DC bus without overloading the supply stage. The module fits mechanically and electrically into compatible multi-axis installations where several servo amplifiers share a centralized power source, and its separated supply architecture supports coordinated acceleration and controlled deceleration across the connected axes.
