Product Description:
The PSR3-230/25-01-002 is a regulated DC supply module built by Kollmorgen for the PSR Servo Power Supplies series. It converts rectified mains power into a stable intermediate circuit that feeds multiple servo amplifiers and absorbs regenerated energy during braking events. By maintaining a controlled bus voltage range and integrating an internal resistor network, the unit supports several motion axes without requiring individual supplies, which improves enclosure density and simplifies wiring in industrial automation systems.
The supply stabilizes the DC link through a capacitance of 0.0044 F, which determines how much electrical energy can be buffered before the voltage rises sharply during load reversals. During steady operation, the bus is held near 325 VDC; this nominal value matches the input range of compatible Kollmorgen servo drives and limits semiconductor stress. Protective circuitry monitors the rail and permits operation up to 385 VDC, the absolute ceiling beyond which the module disconnects to prevent component failure. Regeneration begins when the rail climbs to 365 VDC, creating a hysteresis band that prevents rapid on-and-off cycling. Excess energy is dissipated at up to 150 W, allowing the supply to accommodate frequent deceleration cycles across connected axes.
Energy dissipation relies on a standard internal resistor with a resistance of 15 ohms, which converts surplus electrical energy into heat while keeping the assembly within its operating limits. The module has no external regeneration option, so auxiliary brake resistors or regeneration contactors are not required for its intended operating range. Housing the resistor within the supply reduces the amount of separate braking hardware installed in the control panel. The internal arrangement also keeps the DC bus and regeneration wiring close to the supply, reducing cable runs between the power source and connected servo amplifiers. Regenerated energy passes directly to the resistor network when the activation threshold is reached, while the protective circuitry continues monitoring the intermediate circuit voltage.
