Product Description:
The PSR3-208/50-01-003 is a regulated DC supply module built by Kollmorgen for the PSR Servo Power Supplies series. Designed as a line-side component for Kollmorgen servo amplifiers, the unit converts three-phase plant power into a controlled bus voltage that feeds multiple-axis drives. In automated machinery, this dedicated supply separates motor power demand from the mains, allowing stable motion control while connected drives share a common DC link.
Incoming power is accepted from a three-phase branch circuit with a line-to-line voltage of 208 VAC, a voltage class commonly used in North American control rooms. The rectifier and filter network can deliver a continuous current of 50 A per phase, providing DC bus current for medium-sized systems. Heat produced by the semiconductors is removed through a fan-cooled channel, so cabinet airflow must remain unobstructed. The enclosure follows the standard mechanical style and occupies a footprint only 4 inches wide, leaving additional cabinet space for drives or PLC modules. Because the module imports power rather than actuating a motor, fault energy can be isolated at the upstream disconnect without changing individual axis wiring.
Dynamic braking energy is handled by an external resistor network. A dedicated output passes through a 30 A fast-acting fuse and connects to a remote resistor stack with a resistance of 4.5 ohms and a maximum thermal load of 600 W. Locating this hardware away from the supply helps limit heat buildup around the module. The remote mounting point is identified as the regeneration location, and the resistor can be positioned near machine ventilation to dissipate excess bus energy during deceleration. Interface pinning is compatible with BDS and ACS control racks, allowing these Kollmorgen drive families to share the DC bus without custom adapters. The external resistor converts regenerated electrical energy into heat when braking axes return energy to the common bus.
