Product Description:
The PSR3-208/25-01-005 is a rack-mounted servo power supply manufactured by Kollmorgen for the PSR Servo Power Supplies series. It converts three-phase facility power into a regulated DC bus and supplies an auxiliary AC output required by Kollmorgen servo amplifiers. Inside an automation cabinet, the unit is installed between the main disconnect and multiple drive axes, providing energy during motoring and absorbing surplus energy produced during braking events. The supply supports installations that draw continuous bus current up to the module’s 25 A capability and uses an internal resistor network for controlled regeneration.
Incoming power is a balanced three-phase feed at 208 VAC, while a 1.5 A AGC chassis fuse protects the control section from line faults. Rectification and filtering generate a stable 300 VDC bus, which is routed to downstream amplifiers through low-inductance links to reduce switching transients. The module is rated for 25 A of continuous bus current, allowing the simultaneous acceleration of several medium-frame servo motors. When the drives decelerate, energy is shunted to an embedded 15 Ω regeneration resistor, so external braking hardware is not required for standard duty cycles.
A separate logic rail of 110 VAC is available for contactors, fans, and status lamps, eliminating the need for an additional control transformer. Regenerative current passes through a dedicated path protected by a 10 A fuse, preventing an overload of the resistor network. The onboard resistor can dissipate up to 280 W continuously. Peak braking surges are controlled by a transistor module rated at 100 A, which keeps the DC bus within safe voltage limits. Because the unit does not require an external braking resistor for its intended operating range, panel wiring remains straightforward and enclosure space is conserved.
