Product Description:
The AKC-PCM-M2-120-00N-00-000 is a motion controller produced by Kollmorgen for the MX2000 Motion Controllers series. Mounted inside a machine cabinet, it supervises multi-axis positioning and coordinates distributed drives over an EtherCAT motion network. The controller combines program execution, axis interpolation, and local I/O scanning in a single module, reducing the need for a larger industrial PC. This integrated design also simplifies cabinet wiring in automated packaging, material-handling, and assembly lines. Deterministic processing enables coordinated motion commands to reach connected axes at consistent intervals.
A 1.2 GHz dual-core processor executes deterministic task loops while remaining below the CPU critical temperature limit of 127 °C. The control electronics draw a maximum of 30 W from a 24 VDC ±10% supply at 1.25 A, allowing the unit to share common control power with sensors and valves. The controller uses six digital inputs to capture field signals such as limit-switch states. It also provides two digital outputs for sending commands to connected actuators. The unit supports a switch-on frequency of 30 cycles per hour. Internal memory is refreshed every millisecond to keep control data synchronized during operation. Its 174 mm height provides sufficient surface area for passive convection cooling without a fan.
The controller has an IP20 enclosure for installation inside a closed cabinet that protects it from liquids and fine contaminants. A housing depth of 111.5 mm conserves cabinet space, while the mass of 0.45 kg limits the load placed on the DIN rail. One unshielded twisted-pair port supports a 100Base-T Ethernet connection for configuration and diagnostic communication. Real-time EtherCAT traffic operates at a maximum bus rate of 4 kHz, supporting rapid communication with distributed drives. Motion command packets are regenerated at an output update rate of 1 ms, allowing downstream drives to receive precisely timed setpoints. The compact profile leaves room for adjacent control equipment and cable routing within the enclosure. Passive cooling requires adequate clearance around the housing so rising air can remove heat from the electronics during continuous operation.
