The AKC-PCM-M1-120-00N-00-000 is a programmable motion controller produced by Kollmorgen as part of the MX2000 Motion Controllers series. Mounted on a DIN rail, the unit coordinates multiple drives over an EtherCAT fieldbus, allowing a supervisory PLC to delegate high-speed trajectory generation and axis synchronization. In automated cells, it converts machine-level commands into deterministic position, velocity, and torque references so conveyors, pick-and-place heads, and packaging stations remain synchronized. This arrangement separates coordinated motion tasks from the supervisory logic used to manage the rest of the machine.
Control processing is handled by a single-core ARM processor operating at 1.2 GHz, providing the processing speed needed for interpolated motion with short cycle times. Program code and kinematic tables are stored in 64 MB of flash memory, eliminating the need for removable media. Logic power is drawn from a stabilized supply of 24 V DC ±10%, and the controller consumes 1.25 A under normal operating conditions. Network timing is maintained by an EtherCAT master update rate of 4 kHz, enabling 250-microsecond control loops on downstream drives. The controller has six digital inputs for sensors and limit switches. Two sourcing outputs can switch up to 30 V DC at 100 mA for relays, brakes, or status lights.
Total heat dissipation remains below 30 W, so typical enclosures may not require forced ventilation when adequate clearance and airflow are available. The housing has an IP20 rating, protecting live circuits from accidental contact while supporting installation in clean, dry control panels. Its 111.5 mm depth, 50 mm width, and 174 mm height leave room for adjacent drives, breakers, and wiring channels. Motion wiring uses a daisy-chain network arrangement, allowing a single shielded cable path to connect drives and remote I/O without additional network hubs. The DIN-rail format also supports an orderly cabinet layout and provides direct access to the controller connections.
