The M.3000.0463 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It houses power conversion, motion control, and field-level I/O in one enclosure so a servo motor can be operated without a separate rack controller. In automation systems, it governs torque, velocity, and position while exchanging feedback and commands through the same cabinet-mounted package.
This model accepts a single-phase or three-phase supply of 100-240 VAC at an industrial line frequency of 47-63 Hz. The front-end rectifier draws 18 A RMS under rated conditions and processes up to 4.0 kVA of apparent power before transferring energy to the internal DC bus. Continuous motor current is limited to 10 A, yet transient demands can be answered with a peak of 30 A for rapid acceleration. A 420 VDC overvoltage threshold disconnects the switching devices when regenerated energy raises the bus voltage beyond safe limits. The 88-265 VAC input window allows operation during brownouts or high-line events. Eight discrete general-purpose inputs let the application override motion profiles, while each output channel sources up to 50 mA to actuate relays or signal lights.
Output power reaches 2 kW when the drive is supplied with 230 VAC, and a storage bank of 1880 µF smooths ripple so torque remains stable during dynamic cycles. Internal dissipation is limited to 70 W, helping the aluminum chassis remain within its thermal limits without external fans. An energy absorption capacity of 51 J across the line-to-motor suppressor protects the semiconductors from switching spikes. BiSS encoder support allows single-cable absolute feedback for high-resolution positioning. The package weighs 5.7 lb (2.59 kg), which minimizes the load placed on the mounting panel.
