The MMC-SD-6.0-460 is a standalone smart drive manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It powers and regulates servo motors in automated machinery while integrating power conversion, motion control, and feedback processing in one enclosure. This integrated arrangement allows machine builders to install one module instead of separate amplifier and controller components, reducing the number of interconnections required inside the control cabinet.
The output stage can deliver a continuous phase current of 13.5 A and a short-duration peak current of 27.0 A. The drive requires up to 8.6 kVA under rated operating conditions and draws a nominal input current of 10.8 A RMS. Its internal DC link uses 470 µF of bus capacitance to smooth the rectified supply. Excess regenerated energy is diverted through the integrated shunt switch when the DC-link voltage reaches 780 VDC. A 25 W auxiliary rail accepts external logic power, while the brake driver can supply 0.5 A to a motor-mounted holding brake. Feedback inputs use 150 Ω termination and accept encoder signals at frequencies up to 720 kHz, supporting rapid position capture.
