The MMC-SD-4.0-460 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen and assigned to the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit converts a three-phase 460 VAC supply into regulated motor power and embedded motion commands, allowing the system to coordinate position, velocity, and torque without a separate controller. Its integrated control, power electronics, and braking circuitry make the drive suitable for conveyors, packaging axes, and other midrange automation tasks that need tight synchronization. Combining these functions in one unit also helps reduce panel space requirements and wiring complexity.
The DC link inside the drive is stabilized by a bus capacitance of 470 µF, and this energy storage supports a continuous bus power of 5.0 kW during load transients. During power-up, the rectifier can draw a maximum inrush current of 13.2 A RMS, while the steady-state input current is 7 A RMS from the mains. The installation should reserve 5.6 kVA of input apparent power to keep upstream switchgear within its thermal limits.
