The MMC-SD-30.0-460-D is a standalone servo drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. This smart drive accepts plant power, closes current and velocity loops internally, and issues precise voltage-frequency waveforms to connected motors. By embedding motion control, it replaces separate amplifier and controller modules, streamlining installation in packaging, printing, or material-handling lines that require coordinated, variable-speed operation.
The drive can deliver a continuous output of 69.3 A, allowing sustained torque production under rated thermal conditions, while a peak capability of 110.0 A supports short acceleration bursts without saturation. When supplied from a 460 VAC network, the inverter provides 30.0 kW of output power, matched to a nominal input demand of 36.7 kVA at the mains terminals. Internal dissipation is limited to 840 W, so cabinet ventilation can be sized accordingly. Additional ratings include 15.0 kW of output power when the bus operates at 230 VAC and 10.0 kW of DC bus power reserved for auxiliary axes or braking. The energy absorber clamps regenerated surges up to 185 J to protect semiconductors during deceleration events.
Capacitive storage on the DC link is 2000 µF, providing a low-impedance reservoir that smooths line dips and supplies transient motor demand between switching cycles. The current loop refreshes every 125 µsec, and the speed loop updates within 250 µsec, so command changes propagate to shaft motion with minimal latency. Encoder data is accepted through a BiSS interface, and digital communication cables may extend 25 m without repeaters, enabling remote mounting on moving gantries. Power lugs are secured to 1.25 Nm, and the minimum field wiring cross-section is 1.5 mm² (16 AWG) to meet thermal rise limits. At 35 lb, the drive is suitable for panel mounting.
