The MMC-SD-16.0-460 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. Acting as a servo amplifier, it converts three-phase mains power and an auxiliary 24 V supply into regulated motor currents so axes in packaging lines, pick-and-place robots, and conveyor systems can be positioned under program control. The unit integrates its own motion processor and high-speed feedback ports, eliminating the need for a separate controller while maintaining precise synchronization in industrial automation tasks.
For the 24 V control rail, the drive draws 1750 mA during normal operation, which equals 42 W of power for its electronics, and withstands a 4 A inrush for 10 ms at startup. From the mains, nominal input reaches 16.8 kVA at 21.1 A RMS, and feeders must use conductors of at least 1.5 mm² (16 AWG) secured to terminals tightened to 1.25 Nm. The power section provides a continuous mechanical output of 16.0 kW by delivering 25.8 A RMS to the motor, and it can supply up to 73.0 A for short-term acceleration. Encoder or resolver signals are accepted at rates up to 720 kHz, enabling high-speed spindle or linear motor control.
