It converts 460-volt three-phase mains power into regulated three-phase output power for servo or induction motors, providing motion control without a separate amplifier or PLC-based control loop. Integrated processing handles position, velocity, and torque commands, so the unit can operate conveyors, indexing tables, or packaging axes while minimizing cabinet space and wiring. This integrated design allows the drive to execute coordinated motion functions while communicating with the surrounding machine control system.
During continuous operation, the drive supplies 3.0 A of motor current, corresponding to an electrical output rating of 1.3 kW. For acceleration and transient loads, the output can rise to 6.0 A, while the current regulator updates every 125 µs to preserve stability. Line-side demand reaches a nominal 1.94 kVA at 2.44 A RMS, and the thermal design must accommodate a steady power loss of 34 W dissipated through the heat sink. The internal DC bus has 110 µF of capacitance, while a shunt switch begins clamping at 780 VDC to absorb regenerated energy during deceleration.
