The MMC-SD-0.5-230-DN is a compact AC servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. Intended for decentralized axis control, the unit provides power conversion, current regulation, and position-loop processing in a single housing that mounts near the motor it commands. By combining power electronics and motion control processing, the drive provides closed-loop speed and torque regulation for brushless motors. This arrangement supports controlled motion in automated assembly stations, packaging lines, and material-handling cells while reducing the length of motor power and feedback connections.
The drive is rated for 0.5 kW of continuous mechanical power and supplies 2.5 A continuously through its output stage. Transient movements can draw up to 7.5 A for short periods, providing additional current for acceleration and sudden load changes. A digital regulator refreshes the current loop every 125 µs, while three-phase sinusoidal commutation helps minimize torque ripple during rotation.
