Product Description:

The M.3000.0930 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It functions as a compact servo amplifier that conditions incoming three-phase power and delivers regulated current to brushless motors in packaging lines, pick-and-place stations, and other automated machinery. By embedding motion control, power electronics, and safety enable circuitry in one enclosure, it speeds installation and reduces panel space inside control cabinets.

The control core samples the analog velocity or torque reference with a 14-bit converter, providing fine setpoint granularity. During continuous operation, the drive supplies up to 5 A of phase current and tolerates bursts of up to 15 A for short acceleration events. Its thermal design supports a rated output of 1 kW, so it can run medium-frame servomotors without derating. Current loops are refreshed every 125 µs, while the velocity regulator inserts new corrections every 250 µs, providing tight speed control. Three-phase sinusoidal commutation reduces torque ripple. Incoming feedback is terminated at 150 Ω and received by a Maxim 3098 RS-422 differential stage. Separate groups of six DC power pins and four bus or regeneration pins route bulk supply and braking energy.

Power enters the drive through a three-phase mains block that distributes current through the designated 9 power pins. A safety enable line accepts 24 VDC, allowing the controller to be activated or placed in a safe state independently of the mains disconnect. Encoder edges can stream into the drive at up to 720 kHz, giving the position loop sufficient bandwidth for high-speed applications. The analog interface simplifies wiring when the drive is paired with legacy PLCs. Six dedicated DC pins connect the internal bus directly to external capacitors, while four brake terminals connect regeneration resistors that dissipate excess energy during rapid stops.
