Product Description:

The M.3000.0916 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. As a compact servo amplifier, the unit accepts three-phase mains power and modulates the bus voltage to run synchronous or induction servomotors in automated production lines, packaging cells, and material-handling axes. By integrating power electronics, motion control, and internal braking circuitry, the device provides decentralized motor control without requiring a separate motion controller. Its compact format also allows the power and control functions to remain close to the connected machine axis.

The drive is designed for a three-phase supply and draws up to 1.0 kVA from the mains. An internal monitoring circuit trips when the DC link reaches 420 VDC, protecting the IGBTs from overvoltage. During energization, the line filter tolerates a 70 A zero-to-peak inrush current, after which the inverter can continuously deliver 3.5 A RMS to the motor windings. The brake relay can switch a regenerative load of 831 VA to the resistor bank. The control board draws only 375 mA from the 24 V auxiliary rail, reducing demand on the machine power supply. Because the drive does not provide a Safe Off function, motion disable must be handled by external safety hardware.

The housing measures 100 mm wide, 156 mm deep, and 257 mm high, so it fits shallow control panels while accommodating a mass of 2.55 kg. Under normal operating conditions, the bus section dissipates 37 W as heat, allowing cabinet ventilation to be sized accordingly. The inverter is rated for 1 kW of shaft power and supports transient loads with an output capability of 15 A zero-to-peak. Typical mains current is 5 A RMS, which is compatible with branch circuits sized for drives in this power range. Protective relays and fuses must be coordinated with the stated voltage, current, and inrush limits. Adequate panel airflow should pass across the heat sink so that the drive can release heat during continuous motor operation.
