The M.3000.0466 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen as part of the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. Designed for cabinet mounting, the unit converts fixed-frequency AC input into regulated three-phase power for servo and induction motors used in conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and forming machines. By combining motion control, power conversion, and safety monitoring in one module, the drive simplifies automation layouts and reduces the need for separate control and amplifier components. It is intended for midrange motion tasks that require accurate torque delivery and a compact installation footprint.
The drive supplies a continuous output current of 9.0 A, measured at the motor phase peaks, so loads drawing that current can operate continuously without thermal cutback. During acceleration or sudden load changes, the available current rises to a peak of 18.0 A, providing short-term torque at twice the continuous current rating. The drive delivers up to 4.0 kW of electrical output power, making it suitable for medium-frame servomotors in packaging or extrusion equipment. Motor speed control remains stable at output frequencies up to 450 Hz, allowing high-pole-count machines to operate at several thousand revolutions per minute. On the supply side, the inverter draws 5.6 kVA at a nominal current of 7 A RMS and withstands an inrush current of 13.2 A RMS without nuisance tripping. These electrical components fit inside a chassis that measures 106 mm wide, leaving additional cabinet space for auxiliary equipment and wiring.
A DC-link capacitance of 470 µF smooths rectified mains energy and buffers regenerated power during deceleration. When the link voltage reaches the shunt-switch threshold of 780 VDC, an internal transistor diverts excess energy to an external resistor. The resistor must have a resistance of at least 86 Ω to keep current within the drive’s operating limits. The switching and control electronics dissipate 102 W continuously, so forced-air cooling is recommended in tightly enclosed cabinets. A brake output supplies 0.5 A to operate holding brakes on vertical axes. The chassis measures 288 mm deep and 428 mm high, while the assembled unit weighs 16 lb, reducing the load placed on the mounting panel.
