Product Description:
The M.3000.0462 is a standalone servo drive produced by Kollmorgen within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It serves as the power stage and controller for a matched brushless motor, delivering regulated current while exchanging position data with the machine controller. In an automation cabinet, the unit controls the axis by combining power electronics, feedback decoding, and communications in one enclosure. This integration reduces cabling and setup time in multi-axis cells while keeping essential motion-control functions together.
Its continuous output capacity reaches 5 A, allowing the connected motor to operate at its rated torque without output current derating. For short acceleration bursts, the drive supplies 15 A to cover transient overloads. The power module supports a mechanical load of 1 kW, which is the maximum continuous shaft power available. Incoming energy is limited by a nominal draw of 2.0 kVA from the single-phase mains, with a steady line current of 9 A RMS. At power-up, the capacitors can draw peaks of 70 A for a few milliseconds, so upstream fusing must tolerate that brief surge. Command data enter through a digital link interface, and motor position feedback is processed through a BiSS channel for absolute position encoding.
The control electronics use an auxiliary supply that draws 16 W and carries 650 mA on the low-voltage branch. This supply keeps the communication and gate-drive circuits active even when the main power stage is disabled. Under full load, the heat sink dissipates 37 W, which helps determine the airflow needed inside the panel. The aluminum housing weighs 2.55 kg and measures 257 mm high, 119 mm wide, and 156 mm deep. Its narrow width conserves lateral cabinet space, while its depth must be considered along with connector and cable clearances. The single-phase input also supports installations where a three-phase supply is unavailable. Adequate spacing around the heat sink allows the drive to release internally generated heat without obstructing nearby equipment.
