Product Description:
The M.3000.0461 standalone smart drive is produced by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. This unit integrates power electronics, motion control, and feedback handling to operate brushless servomotors directly from an AC supply. In automated machinery, it regulates torque and speed so compact axes can dispense, index, or track without a separate controller. Its all-in-one design supports installation inside control cabinets where available space and simplified wiring are priorities.
Continuous motor power reaches 500 W when the drive is supplied with 230 VAC, and it can source a continuous phase current of 2.5 A to keep servomotors within their thermal limits. For rapid moves, the current ceiling rises to 7.5 A from zero to peak, providing a threefold overload margin for short acceleration periods. Mains current is limited to 5 A RMS under nominal load, which allows appropriate line protection to be selected. Internal control loops are refreshed every 125 µs, allowing the current regulator to track fast commutation changes and maintain smooth torque. BiSS serial feedback operates at up to 720 kHz with 150 Ω termination and a ±200 mV switching threshold, closing the position loop over a single shielded pair.
The digital link can extend up to 100 m before additional signal conditioning is required. Cabinet layouts must account for an inrush current of 70 A when incorporating fuses and soft-start components, while normal thermal dissipation remains at 22 W to support passive airflow in most enclosures. With a mass of 2.23 kg, the drive is suitable for DIN-rail mounting near the actuator, and it can operate at altitudes up to 1,500 m without derating. Each logic output is limited to 50 mA to protect connected devices. The power section accepts 1.0 kVA from the mains, allowing multiple drives to share a standard 10 A branch when the total connected load remains within the branch rating.
