Product Description:
The M.3000.0459 is a standalone smart drive produced by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. Designed as a compact servo amplifier, it supplies regulated power and real-time control signals to brushless motors used in automated packaging, material handling, and small machine tools. Its integrated motion controller eliminates the need for an external rack, reducing panel space while allowing coordinated positioning tasks to be executed directly inside the drive.
The drive is rated for a continuous mechanical output of 1 kW, which is the maximum load it can support without thermal derating. Mains power is accepted from a single-phase branch circuit, simplifying installation where three-phase service is unavailable. Under steady conditions, the power section delivers 5 A of current to the motor, while short duty cycles can draw up to 15 A to accelerate heavy inertias. Protective circuitry trips if the internal DC link rises above 420 VDC, guarding switching devices against regenerative surges. Motor ratings, fuse capacity, and braking resistance must remain within these operating limits.
Energy storage on the DC bus is provided by 1880 µF of capacitance, allowing the drive to absorb regenerated energy until it can be dissipated through the 51 J absorber network. The vertical package measures 9.69 in (246.13 mm) high and 3.96 in wide, so it fits slender enclosures without restricting airflow. High-resolution feedback is exchanged over the BiSS protocol through the 15-pin F1 connector, while command and sensor lines enter through a 26-pin port. A brake relay rated at 24 VDC is wired to a dedicated five-position terminal, enabling controlled holding of vertical axes when the power stage is disabled. The nine-position motor terminal provides connections for the motor wiring.
