The M.3000.0458 is a standalone servo drive engineered by Kollmorgen within the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It combines power conversion, motion control, and safety circuitry in a compact module that mounts directly on a DIN rail. When linked to a synchronous servomotor, the drive supplies regulated current, interprets digital feedback, and exchanges status signals with the host controller so axes can be positioned precisely in packaging, assembly, or laboratory equipment. Its single-phase mains input saves transformer space and suits small machines where three-phase service is unavailable.
Its continuous output current of 2.5 A supports steady-state torque production, while a peak capability of 7.5 A delivers the transient current required for fast indexing moves. Overvoltage protection engages at 420 VDC, protecting the DC link from damaging regeneration spikes. A bulk capacitance of 1410 µF smooths the DC link and cushions load reversals to maintain stable torque. The drive is rated at 0.5 kW, making it suitable for fractional-horsepower motors used in pick-and-place heads and small conveyors. The single-phase input simplifies installation, and the narrow housing occupies only 2.96 inches of panel width and stands 9.69 inches high. Five dedicated pins carry the 24 V service voltage and brake signals. Nine power pins connect the motor phases and protective earth.
The integrated brake relay supports coils rated up to 100 VDC and can switch as much as 2.5 A. Its inductive load rating is 831 VA, allowing the drive to control a holding brake as the axis starts and stops. During rapid deceleration with a 230 V supply, the internal absorber converts up to 38 J of surplus bus energy into heat, so small loads do not require external resistors. High-resolution position data is accepted through a BiSS serial feedback channel, which eliminates analog drift and supports absolute multi-turn encoders.
