Product Description:
The M.1302.5248 is a standalone smart drive manufactured by Kollmorgen and included in the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. As a self-contained power stage with integrated control logic, it converts three-phase mains power into precise motor currents so that servo axes, conveyors, and other motion elements can be commanded directly by machine control without separate amplifiers. The unit is intended for cabinet installation in automated equipment where compact power electronics must regulate speed, torque, and position. Its integrated design reduces the number of separate drive components required within the control system while supporting coordinated motion in industrial machinery.
During normal operation, the drive delivers a rated output current of 75 A and accepts up to 3 × 480 VAC from a three-phase supply, allowing it to power medium-sized synchronous or induction motors directly. The internal power electronics operate with utility grids at 50/60 Hz, so no line-frequency conversion hardware is required. Continuous power loss is limited to 24 W, which simplifies enclosure cooling and helps control internal panel temperatures. Field wiring connects through terminals that accept conductors with a maximum cross-sectional area of 25 mm², providing enough capacity for heavy-gauge copper wiring. The IP20 enclosure prevents finger contact with live components when the drive is installed inside a closed control cabinet.
Output capability decreases by 1.4%/°C above 40 °C, so drive sizing must account for elevated cabinet temperatures up to the operating limit of 55 °C. For brief dynamic loads, the inverter can deliver 1.5 × IN for less than 1 min/h, providing additional current for acceleration without requiring a larger drive frame. The power stage has a dielectric withstand rating of 2.7 kVDC for 2 s from phase to ground. It also withstands 2.1 kVDC for 2 s between phases, supporting operation on a 480 V supply. Continuous service is permitted at installation altitudes up to 2,000 m. The operating temperature range extends from -25 °C to +55 °C. A mass of 2.6 kg reduces the load placed on cabinet mounting surfaces and makes the unit easier to position during panel assembly.
