The M.1300.4422 is a controller-drive module produced by Kollmorgen for the MMC Standalone Smart Drives series. It combines multi-axis servo control with local I/O so that a single device can coordinate motion, feedback, and machine signals in small automation cells, packaging lines, or material-handling stations. By integrating the power stage, processor, and field wiring in one housing, the unit reduces panel space and simplifies installation for equipment manufacturers that need distributed motion capability without a central rack system. This integrated arrangement also reduces the number of separate components and interconnections required within the control cabinet.
The module supports four servo axes and provides analog interfacing through one input sampled at 12 bits and four outputs generated at 16 bits. The output channels can source up to 100 mA per output, providing sufficient current for drive-enable or brake-relay circuits. Motion feedback is accepted through five encoder inputs, and each channel can be decoded at rates up to 250 kHz, allowing high-resolution position verification on fast linear stages. Additional machine signals pass through five fast DC inputs for edge-triggered events, sixteen general DC inputs for standard sensing, and sixteen general DC outputs that follow the controller scan cycle. The unbuffered general outputs share the digital power rail, and the current through each output must remain below 0.25 A.
The drive operates from a control supply of 24 VDC, and all field signals use this nominal voltage as their reference. Communication between multiple MMC modules uses a straight-pinned CAT5 link. The copper connection can extend up to 82.5 ft (25 m) without repeaters, allowing modules in neighboring cabinets to remain synchronized. Overall dimensions of 2.25 × 9.6 × 5.3 in permit vertical DIN-rail mounting next to breakers and contactors. This narrow housing helps preserve lateral cabinet space while providing access to the module’s power, communication, feedback, and general I/O connections.
