Product Description:
The 3NF-16 is a single-stage mains EMI filter produced by Kollmorgen within the Mains EMI Filters series. Installed at the input of servo amplifiers, PLC cabinets, or variable-frequency drives, the device suppresses differential-mode and common-mode interference returning to the power grid. By reducing high-frequency noise, the filter helps machinery meet electromagnetic emission limits and prevents conducted disturbances from affecting neighboring control circuits, sensors, and communication buses that operate in the same industrial enclosure.
The filter has a rated through current of 16 A, so branch protection devices and upstream cabling must support that continuous load. Line-to-line voltage endurance is specified at 480 VAC, allowing direct connection to standard three-phase mains, while the line-to-ground rating of 275 VAC is the maximum permissible potential between a phase and protective earth. During normal service, the filter produces only 33 mA of displacement current at 400 VAC and 50 Hz, which helps prevent premature tripping of ground-fault monitoring equipment. A series resistance of 3 × 8.24 mΩ at 25 °C introduces negligible voltage drop, maintaining drive bus stability even under high surge demand.
The device is intended for panel spaces where the ambient temperature does not exceed 50 °C. Its internal components are qualified for continuous operation up to a maximum temperature of 100 °C. In safety analyses, the worst-case leakage current reaches 181.5 mA at 230 VAC and 50 Hz, so protective earth conductors must be sized for that condition. The housing measures 250 mm long and 45 mm wide, with a height of 70 mm, supporting DIN-rail or chassis mounting without obstructing adjacent modules. Dielectric integrity is confirmed by a phase-to-earth test pulse of 2.65 kVDC applied for 2 seconds.
