The 3NF-07 is a three-phase mains electromagnetic interference filter produced by Kollmorgen as part of its Mains EMI Filters series. The unit is installed between the plant’s power supply and sensitive motion controllers or servo drives to attenuate conducted noise and prevent radio-frequency emissions from returning to the utility grid. By limiting high-frequency interference in both directions, it helps machines comply with industrial electromagnetic compatibility standards and supports reliable operation in automation lines. This filtering function also reduces the transmission of switching noise generated by connected power electronics.
The filter is intended for three-phase (3~) networks, and it handles a supply frequency of 50/60 Hz without derating. Its power stage is insulated for up to 480 VAC, so it can be wired to common industrial low-voltage systems. The copper path supports a continuous load of 7 A, which suits small inverter cabinets or distributed drive modules. The internal capacitors introduce a differential leakage current of 33 mA, and this value should be considered when calculating residual-current-device trip limits. Appropriate protective devices must account for the filter’s normal leakage behavior to prevent unintended interruptions while maintaining fault protection.
The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so live parts are protected against finger contact once the filter is mounted inside an enclosure. Ground continuity is established through a PE stud that accepts an M5 bolt, providing a direct protective-earth connection to the installation backplate. The cage-clamp terminals accept conductors with cross-sectional areas up to 4 mm², allowing secure connections for the rated current. These terminals must be tightened to a maximum torque of 0.8 N·m to avoid conductor damage while maintaining low impedance during fault events. With a mass of 0.5 kg, the module adds little weight to DIN rails or backplates and can be positioned near connected drives. Short power and grounding paths can help control parasitic impedance and preserve the intended high-frequency attenuation.
