Product Description:
The 3EF-08 is a single-stage mains electromagnetic interference filter manufactured by Kollmorgen for the Mains EMI Filters series. Installed between the plant power bus and servo inverters, the device attenuates conducted electrical noise so drives can meet industrial electromagnetic compatibility limits without disturbing nearby instrumentation. It provides an impedance path for common-mode and differential-mode currents that might otherwise travel through the power network. This filtering supports compliance with applicable CE and FCC emissions requirements without requiring changes to existing motor cables or control wiring.
This model is rated for a continuous line current of 8 A, allowing it to be installed ahead of medium-power axes that draw up to eight amperes under full load. Its line voltage tolerance extends to 400 V AC, permitting direct connection to compatible three-phase European power systems. When the connected transformer is considered, the calculated magnetizing current is limited to 4 A, which supports the selection of suitable upstream circuit protection. The input and output blocks accept conductors with cross-sectional areas up to 4 mm², accommodating common control-panel cabling. Power leads are secured by M6 terminals, which provide firm clamping pressure to help maintain low contact resistance during vibration and repeated equipment operation.
The filter is designed for installation on an enclosure back panel or a suitable mounting plate. Its two mounting slots are spaced 115 mm center to center, providing a consistent bolt pattern for positioning the unit inside a control cabinet. Each slot measures 6.5 mm, allowing the use of appropriately sized M6 bolts or pan-head screws. The body has a width of 180 mm and a depth of 60 mm, leaving room for cable bends and strain reliefs when installed behind a standard 200 mm cabinet door. The unit also has an overall width of 220 mm and a mass of 1.8 kg, allowing the supporting panel and fasteners to be selected for its physical load. Adequate clearance around the terminals helps prevent sharp cable bends and allows conductors to enter the connection points without placing unnecessary stress on the insulation.
