Product Description:
The 3EF-05 electromagnetic interference filter is produced by Kollmorgen within the Mains EMI Filters series. Designed for installation on the mains side of servo amplifiers and other sensitive industrial electronics, the unit suppresses high-frequency noise returning to the plant power network. It also protects downstream equipment from conducted disturbances created by power-switching devices. By supporting compliance with applicable emission limits, the filter helps motion controllers, PLCs, and sensor networks operate without disruption from harmonics generated by inverters or rapidly commutated motor phases.
This filter supports a line-to-line operating voltage of 400 V AC, so it can be wired directly to a compatible three-phase distribution system without additional step-down equipment. Its continuous load capability is 5 A, which is the maximum RMS current that can pass through the suppression network while keeping the core and windings within their operating temperature limits. The input and output terminal blocks accept cables with cross-sectional areas up to 4 mm², providing enough conductor area to limit resistive losses at the stated current. Connections are made with threaded bus bars that use M6 studs, allowing ring lugs to be tightened securely for low-impedance electrical contact. The housing has an overall width of 190 mm, leaving space for airflow between adjacent devices on a cabinet backplate and accommodating installations where panel space is limited.
The enclosure stands 105 mm tall and extends 50 mm in depth, allowing the filter to fit in shallow cabinets without obstructing door clearance or nearby cable ducts. Its mass of 1.1 kg limits the additional load placed on a fixed or swing-out mounting rack. Mechanical ribs in the housing maintain rigidity and help damp vibration that could loosen terminal connections during repeated machine cycles. The shielded case contains the laminated steel core and provides a stable mounting surface for attachment to the cabinet backplate. Proper bonding to protective earth gives conducted interference a low-impedance path away from connected drives and control equipment.
