By combining power conversion with onboard sequencing logic, the unit serves as the central actuator interface in systems that do not require regenerative energy return.

The controller accepts a three-phase AC input of 460 VAC within a frequency window of 48–62 Hz. Internally, it generates an armature voltage adjustable from 0–500 VDC, allowing it to deliver up to 15 HP of mechanical output. Short-term overload demands are accommodated by a rating of 150% for 1 minute, enabling rapid acceleration without nuisance trips. Because this is a non-regenerative drive, excess kinetic energy is dissipated rather than returned to the supply.
